However, the import window for these options is different from importing from a media card. The main difference is you can’t rename your files on import or specify a location since they’re already on your hard drive. When it comes to renaming your files, I’d suggest doing so before importing. There is no need to change export directory and no conflict with file name. If you import your images and then rename them, Darktable will not recognize the new name. Hi, I am new to editing and just getting used to everything, I am using darktable to be able to export and carry on into gimp. I have to apologize for the mistake I made on the title of my question: the actual problem should be that DT was somehow stuck with this exporting operation it just shows 'exporting 1/1 to file on disk' (at bottom of left panel), but never finish the task. Whilst doing this I have edited a photo in darktable and am happy with the results and then exporting it to a file gimp can open. After opening this new file in gimp, the photo is now dark again and unedited. Renaming them after the fact will require re-importing your photos before you’re able to edit the files!īoth Mac and Windows users have an option for renaming files through your operating system, and you can learn how to do that by doing a quick Google search.Īs you did before, you can add metadata to the files during import. Now, you can locate the folder of images and click the import button.īe sure to watch part 3 of getting started with darktable, where you’ll learn how to edit an image in darkroom… click that video to the left to start watching.
